When out at an inspection or installation, clients may ask you some questions. We have collected some frequently asked questions we often get – with their resolutions.

Kordon product and installations
How do I know if I have a Kordon Termite System installed? A Kordon Termite System is installed during the construction process so clients may not be able to see it. The best way to check is to look for a Kordon sticker inside the door of the sink or in their power/meter box.

Alternatively, they should call the Kordon Warranty Centre and we can check our installation database.
I have just purchased/sold my home. What do I need to do? The homeowner must register warranties to the changed/new owner. If they have their installation number, they can update the homeowner details on Kordon Warranty website. If not, they can call us at the Kordon Warranty Centre.

My Bayer Protection Warranty has expired! Can I renew it? They may still be eligible; however, this will depend on whether there was any termite activity during the period they were not covered. The homeowner must have an inspection as soon as possible. Their warranty renewal will be at the discretion of their Bayer Accredited Timber Pest Inspector and Bayer.
I want to upgrade to the Bayer Protection Warranty. How do I do this? To upgrade to the Bayer Protection Warranty they will first need to get a termite inspection from a Bayer Accredited Timber Pest Inspector, to check whether their property is eligible.

If accredited, we recommend getting the company who installed their Kordon Termite System to do the inspection. Provided the property is eligible, they will then need to contact the Kordon Warranty Centre and pay a fee of $99 for 12 months’ cover.
What happens if I don’t renew my Bayer Protection Warranty? A Bayer Protection Warranty is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase or renewal. If they decide not to renew it, any homes protected by a Kordon Termite System will still have the Limited Kordon Product Warranty for a period of six years from the original installation date (subject to annual inspection by a licensed timber pest inspector).

If the Limited Kordon Product Warranty has also expired their property will not be covered by a warranty.
Why do I have to have an annual inspection, and does it have to be a Bayer person? It’s a condition of warranty that the homeowner has an annual timber pest inspection. If they haven’t had one ever, they should get one and should there be no termite issues, their warranty will be fine.

If they are wanting to be covered under the Bayer Protection Warranty, they must switch to a Bayer Accredited Timber Pest Inspector.
Will I still be covered under warranty if I swap inspectors? Yes, the homeowner can switch inspectors at any stage. They should let us know when swapping inspectors so we can assign it over to the new company.

Do I need to register for warranty in an apartment/unit block? How do warranties and installations work? Units and townhouse installations work on a case-by-case basis, depending on how the slab was put in. For townhouses, a slab will be put in under each unit; therefore every unit must be registered and have a separate warranty.

For an apartment block/unit block, there is usually only one slab put in. Therefore the whole block is registered as one, and only one warranty is required.
Termites found within Bayer Protection Warranty period
My annual timber pest inspector has found termites! I have Kordon installed and have a Bayer Protection Warranty. What are the next steps? If termites get into a property within the warranty period, the BATPI or homeowner should contact the Kordon Warranty Centre. We will forward details onto a Bayer Kordon expert. The Bayer representative will get in contact with the homeowner and organise an appropriate time to visit the property and carry out an investigation. Bayer will ensure the property is returned to its previous state.
